OK, before I let you in on the secret, let me make sure that you qualify. Because if you don’t qualify with me you don’t qualify with the PMI. They administer the PMP exam. Hey, don’t give me that look. They make the rules. Don’t shoot the messenger.
You have:
- a four-year university degree or you’ve at least finished and received your high school certificate,
- you have 3 years full-time, documented project management experience if you have the degree, or 5 years full-time experience for the high school certificate,
- you’ve done 35 PDUs – also known as Professional Development Units – which is essentially 35 hours of documented project management education hours.
You’re probably a “DING!” and a green light for the first two points, with a “BZZT!” and red light for the last. Come a bit closer…
There is a way to study for the PMP Certification online and do it on the cheap. I know that last point has been a bit of a show stopper for you, so I’m going to let you in on a little secret:
*lean in*
*whispers…*
there’s rumoured to be an online course somewhere that covers all the same material that is covered in any decent PMP bootcamp style course, explained in a super, simple and clear manner so that even if you feel totally unprepared for the exam, you can pass it.
Furthermore, the person who teaches this online course isn’t just some phony reading the questions and answers verbatim off a sheet. Oh no siree bob. This is an out and out, honest to God, Project Management Professional. The same type that you’re hoping to become.
Not only that, this mysteriously good-hearted fellow updates his material so that it takes into account all the tweaks, improvements and updates to what the PMI considers the best project management practices to lead projects in the modern era.
“Cut the crap, man! I get it, how much does it cost?”
I thought you’d never ask. You’ve probably had a look online and seen that standard bootcamps range into the $1K+ region. What if I told told that you don’t even have to pay 10% of this? What if I told you that you don’t even have to pay 5% of $1,000?
At full price, this course is $50-$60 USD. In any currency, be it Indian Rupees or US Dollars, that is cheap.
The Cheapest Way To Get PMP Certification Is…
…through Andrew Ramdayal’s Udemy PMP Certification exam training course. If you’ve been trying to learn the materials for a while now, scouring the Internet and absorbing everything you can find, this name should definitely ring bells.
Andrew Ramdayal has a modest YouTube channel just shy of 65K subscribers as of the time of writing this blog, but looking at the screenshot of his Udemy course above, has nearly 44K people who have rated and reviewed his course. I’d imagine that factoring in those who haven’t reviewed it, it’s possible that more people have done his PMP training course than those who are subscribed to his channel.
Other YouTubers in the same space take their hats off to him and regularly refer their subscribers to him as the gold standard in PMP training. He’s one of the few “good guys” still fighting the good fight, generously pouring hours of his time to sharing free content, while making his paid content accessible to people who truly need it.
At least a generation of PMs can directly attribute their success to Andrew thanks to his resources. His Udemy course is the ace up the sleeve of tens of thousands of aspiring PMPs. Best of all is that it’s totally legal. Buy the course, put aside a week to study it and you’re ready. It levels the playing field and lets anyone dedicated to the cause have the chance of becoming a Project Management Professional.
So assuming you got it at full price, say $50 USD. You get your training and your 35 PDUs. Add on the $555 USD for non-PMI members to do the exam. That’s $605 USD. That’s the very cheapest anywhere. I challenge you to find cheaper – I’d love to be proven wrong!
