Are you looking to strengthen your resume by eventually doing a PMP Certification online? You’ve come to the right place! This blog will explore the options you have, even looking into universities and third party providers in different areas.
In this blog, we’ll be looking into Cornell University. Cornell University is a private, Ivy League university known mainly for the quality of its mechanical engineering and management courses. With this in mind, if you work in a mechanical and/or engineering company and are looking to take your project management career to the next level, Cornell can be a pretty good option for you.
Let’s have a look into some details as to why this might be a good choice for your career.
Cornell Project Management Certificate Review – Some Real Comments
I try to provide unbiased insights from people who have walked the walk. Some of the best places to get these insights are forums and review websites. The top two that people generally known about are Reddit and G2 respectively.
The reviews appear to be mixed at this point. I’ve grabbed screenshots of some of the more insightful ones below and will link to them as well:

So according this Reddit thread conversation, the content appears to be third party content, which might mean that it’s not at in depth or thorough or leverages their alumni network to bring real life case studies into the mix.
Here are three more reviews from G2:

Note that these people are reviewing the eCornell platform as whole. Some of the reviews are from people of difference disciplines and experience levels and aren’t specific to the project management course. Definitely worth doing your own research and speaking to people who have done the Cornell project management course.
Cornell PMP Certificate Cost

People searching for this might be a little confused about what’s actually on offer. As far as I know, you can’t get the PMP certification through Cornell. What you do get is up to 50 PDUs for the hours of education you do if you were to do their Project Management Certificate. This can qualify you to later sit the PMP separately.
The cost of the PMP tends to be the same anywhere you do it: $555 USD if you’re not a PMI member and $405 USD if you are a member. There is qualification criteria you have to meet before you can even do the PMP, so check out the PMI website if you’re not sure.
But the take away here is that Cornell’s PM course costs $3,900 USD (though at the time of writing this blog it’s discounted to $2,730 USD) and that is ON TOP OF the cost of doing the PMP certification separately. Whether that’s worth it is up to you, but I wanted you to be aware of all the costs involved here.
Do you think you might go to Cornell, or try another Ivy League university? If they offer online courses, it could be a suitable option if you’re not looking to go on campus.
